The ACRL Diversity Committee is working on revising and updating its Diversity Standards, developed by the previously named Racial and Ethnic Diversity Committee and approved by ACRL in 2012. The Standards intend to “provide a framework to support libraries in engaging the complexities of providing services to diverse populations, and recruiting and maintaining a diverse library workforce,” and “also serve as a starting point from which libraries can develop local approaches and goals in the context of their organizations’ mission and situation.” Further information and complete text of the Standards may be found here: http://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/diversity
We are striving to make the Standards more inclusive and widely applicable to the emerging needs of academic libraries.
