The Opportunity
The University of Toronto Libraries seeks an innovative and strongly user-focused librarian for the position of Liaison Librarian, Education. The successful candidate will report to the OISE Library Director and will work collaboratively with other members of the OISE Library team, and with colleagues across the University of Toronto Libraries.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Actively build relationships with OISE’s students, faculty, staff, and researchers.
- Provide reference and research support.
- Design and deliver in-person and online information literacy instruction, in collaboration with faculty members and other members of the OISE Library instruction team and colleagues across UTL.
- Develop, manage, and assess OISE Library collections.
- Participate in UTL collection assessment projects and initiatives.
- Initiate and oversee preservation and digitization projects in consultation with Media Commons and University of Toronto Archives and Record Management Services (UTARMs) staff, the UTL Digital Preservation Librarian, Scholarly Communications and Copyright Office librarians, and colleagues across UTL.
- Proactively work to improve and develop new programs and services to meet the changing needs of OISE’s diverse community.
- Participate in library and other committees and working groups as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- A degree from an accredited Masters level program in library and information studies.
- Proven ability to promote respect and inclusion by working successfully with a wide variety of people and encouraging their participation and involvement
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to user-centered services and to ongoing service improvement
- Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Proven project management skills
- Knowledge of collection development practices
- Familiarity with critical pedagogy
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and social justice

Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or related experience in the field of education
- Experience:
- developing, managing, and assessing library collections
- leading digitization and / or preservation projects
- designing and delivering information literacy instruction, in-person and online
- supporting research and reference services
- working in an academic library
- providing faculty liaison / outreach
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a permanent status stream position to be filled at the Librarian I or II level, based on experience. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and academic/professional qualifications
