Position Title: Librarian, Courthouse Libraries BC 

Location: Victoria, BC 

Position Status: Permanent, Full-time (1.0 FTE – 35 hours per week, benefits & paid time off)  Hourly Rate: $35.06 per hour 

About Courthouse Libraries BC  

Courthouse Libraries BC (CLBC) is seeking a permanent, full-time Librarian for our Victoria library.  

CLBC is a province-wide independent not for profit society. Our vision is that everyone in BC has ready  access to the legal information and resources they need. CLBC provides the legal community and public  with legal resources, librarian expertise and informed referrals, to help people research and manage  their legal issues.  

We are looking for a team member to provide the best client support possible in a welcoming and  inclusive environment in our Victoria branch. As part of a small onsite team, you will lead the Victoria  information services and branch operations. You will also be part of our province-wide Frontline Services  team that serves clients throughout the province. 

We offer a supportive workplace, where we value diversity and work-life balance. You will be scheduled  for 35 hours per week. Workdays are Monday to Friday and hours can be scheduled between 8:00am and 4:30pm. Opportunities for remote work can be considered where operationally feasible.

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Serving the legal community and general public 

• Providing the best customer support possible 

• Responding to legal information requests in person, via phone and email 

• Assisting clients to access and use legal information using all available resources • Responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of the library and print collection • Working closely with colleagues on frontline services, collection development responsibilities,  projects, and working groups 

• Promoting library services, building relationships with clients and stakeholders, and supporting  our public facing programs 

• Providing training, orientations, and tours to individuals and groups 

• Working within a collaborative team in person and virtually via Zoom, MS Teams, etc.

What You’ll Need 

• Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent • Ability to be flexible as part of a small onsite team and adaptable to changes in processes/procedures and organizational objectives and priorities 

• Ability to work considerately and cooperatively with team members even in challenging circumstances 

• Ability to set boundaries and use good judgment with a willingness to ask for assistance and  team support 

• Interest in providing access to justice for all members of our community and a desire to  incorporate anti-racism, equity, diversity, and inclusion practices in your work 

Ability to balance differing audiences and services 

• Good record-keeping skills and ease of use or learning of new information resources, tools, and  devices
