We are seeking an organized and intellectually curious Reference Assistant to join the WeirFoulds Library team on a 6-month part-time contract. The successful candidate will be required to work regularly in the office for a maximum of two (2) days/week and there will be some degree of flexibility to work from home once the incumbent in the role becomes familiar with firm and library department process and technology/applications. This role will report directly to the Team Lead, Senior Reference Librarian.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage lawyer book orders, including returns.
- Monitor practice area developments and prepare weekly alerts.
- Assist the reference librarians with research requests and delivery of books and/or documents.
- Review legal memos and create search-friendly titles that summarize legal issues.
- Clerical duties including opening mail, checking in serials, processing invoices, and loose-leaf service filing.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- At least three (3) years of library experience working in a technical services or public services environment.
- Law firm and/or professional services experience would be considered an asset.
- Experience (not necessarily library experience) in a customer service role with the ability to juggle multiple requests in a timely, patient, and diplomatic manner.
- Prior experience with indexing is an asset.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Prior experience with document management systems (iManage or similar), library management systems, and online databases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, yet collaborative in approach, and proactively engages with all stakeholders/ team members.
