Job Summary:
Dalhousie University Libraries support and advance learning and research endeavors by providing collections, facilities and services that enable expedient access to the world’s information and knowledge. Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, the Manager, Community Engagement, Web Content and Communications is responsible for the management of the digital identity, communications, events, and advancement activities for the Dalhousie University Libraries.
Key Responsibilities:
∙ Creates an annual communications plan based on the Libraries strategic plan.
∙ As the primary editor and publisher for the Libraries website, oversees design and maintenance of Dal Libraries’ web presence and coordinates assessment and user experience analysis of website.
∙ Manages media requests for Dal Libraries and advises the Dean of Libraries on issues management, with a particular focus on risk management.
∙ Collaborates with the Dean of Libraries and library staff to write effective promotional, marketing, and advertising copy in support of the Libraries’ strategic initiatives, services, and resource offerings. ∙ Maintains superior knowledge and trains library colleagues on latest information technology opportunities for library communications/marketing with a focus on social media.
∙ Leads and coordinates event management for Dal Libraries, organizing various internal and external EDIA, literary, training and staff development events, and advancement activities.
Note:
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
∙ Undergraduate degree in public relations or marketing (or related field), plus approximately three years’ experience in marketing or communications (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
∙ Experience in creating and executing successful marketing and communications strategies, as well as demonstrated competence using social media, website development, and creative design work.
∙ Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects, simultaneously.
∙ Must have excellent written and oral communications skills, with the ability to tailor communications to the needs of the audience.
∙ Service oriented, highly motivated, and equally capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
