Brescia is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill a position as:
Access Services Coordinator
(Temporary Full-time, one year contract)
Salary Grade 6 – $29.47 per hour
Working in support of the Beryl Ivey Library mission and vision, the Access Services Coordinator participates in the creation and provision of key user services in a community-driven, dynamic environment. Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the Access Services Coordinator provides all aspects of user-centred circulation and reference services, including managing the Service Desk, answering patron enquiries through a variety of communication methods, providing technological assistance, maintaining supplies, and creating and maintaining learning materials in both print and electronic formats. Additional responsibilities include the overall leadership and direction of the Bold Works student program course readings program, including processing, maintenance, and assessment, and the management of the Library’s marketing program.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
Team Lead – Course Readings Program:
• Maintenance of the course readings program using the ARES course management system.
• Overseeing the collection and reporting of course readings usage statistics.
• Processing course readings materials, with support from library staff.
Team Lead – Library Marketing:
• Ensuring all library marketing content is aligned with Brescia marketing guidelines.
• Overseeing the design and implementation of website content, updating as necessary.
• Ensuring all library website content is presented in an accessible format.
• Develop library communication and outreach pieces in a variety of formats to advertise library services, programs and collections.
• Creates, updates, and posts library signage on a regular basis.
• Creates and maintains monograph displays.
Library Bold Works – Team Leader
1. Responsible for the overall leadership and direction of library participation in Brescia’s Bold Works work study program, including:
a. Recruitment of Student Library Assistants (SLA), including drafting job postings; receiving resumes; and conducting interviews.
b. Organizing the training of SLAs.
c. Providing leadership to the SLA team by scheduling all shifts, assigning tasks and projects, communicating library information as needed and approving timesheets.
Library Circulation Assistance:
• Accessing and maintaining information resources in a campus-wide database.
• Managing cash transactions.
• Using the Integrated Library System to circulate materials to patrons.
• Performing Library opening and closing procedures.
• Ensuring the provision of accessible services are in compliance with the Accessibility with Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Library Reference Assistance:
• Answer library patron inquiries.
• Provide reference assistance and individual instruction in the use of library research, tools, resources, and equipment.
• Participate in the delivery of province-wide virtual reference Ontario Council of University Libraries – Ask a Librarian.
• Creation of alternative learning materials in a variety of formats in consultation with the Learning & Curriculum Support Librarian.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience in Library Sciences or related programs.
• A minimum of 2 years’ related public or customer service job experience.
• Post-Secondary Library experience will be considered an asset.
• A strong knowledge of website infrastructure including software, server equipment, applications and integrations.
• A thorough understanding of the steps and strategies associated with scholarly research, writing, citation, and communication.
• A strong understanding of customer focused service delivery, reference pedagogy and techniques, organization of libraries, integrated library systems, discovery systems, databases, and course readings.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of users in a variety of formats.
