The University of Toronto Libraries system is the largest academic library in Canada and is consistently ranked in the top ten among academic research libraries in North America. The system consists of 40 libraries located on three university campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. This array of college libraries, special collections, and specialized libraries and information centres supports the teaching and research requirements of over 300 graduate programs, more than 70 professional programs, and about 700 undergraduate degree programs. In addition to more than 12 million volumes in 341 languages, the library system currently provides access to millions of electronic resources in various forms and over 31,000 linear metres of archival material. More than 150,000 new print volumes are acquired each year. The Libraries’ data centre houses more than 600 servers with a storage capacity of 1.5 petabytes.

The Opportunity

The University of Toronto Mississauga Library invites applications from innovative and service-oriented librarians for the position of Research Services and Liaison Librarian. Reporting to the Associate Librarian, Collections & Research Services, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of colleagues at the UTM Library to support the planning, delivery, and assessment of research consulting services, and they will also lead outreach initiatives to expand opportunities for researchers at UTM to engage with open science tools and concepts. The incumbent will also participate in UTM Library liaison program and will support Teaching, Learning, and Liaison Services in the areas of Psychology, Anthropology and Forensic Sciences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· A degree from an accredited Master’s level program in library and information studies

· Demonstrated commitment to the values of inclusivity, diversity, equity, anti-racism and accessibility

· Experience offering reference and research consultations to both graduate and undergraduate students

· Experience building relationships with faculty

· Knowledge of the scholarly communication lifecycle and academic library supports in the areas of open access publishing, research data management, citation management, knowledge synthesis and metrics literacy

· Knowledge of open science concepts

· Knowledge of information literacy and collection development concepts

· Demonstrated training and presentation skills

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Excellent organizational, problem solving, and project management skills

· Strong evidence of a growth mindset: a librarian who embraces change, demonstrates flexibility, creativity, resilience, and a commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in the social sciences

Salary and Terms of Appointment: This is a permanent status stream position.

It is anticipated that this position will be filled at the Librarian II or III level, subject to review and experience. Minimum salary: LIB II: $74,553; LIB III: $95,411 (Salary is dependent on rank at hire and qualifications).
