Arts & Humanities Liaison Librarian (Indigenous)
The University of Manitoba Libraries seeks an effective, highly-motivated person for the position of Arts & Humanities Liaison Librarian (Indigenous) at a General or Assistant Librarian rank to begin April 1, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. This position normally has a two-year probationary period. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED FOR AN INDIGENOUS CANDIDATE. APPLICANTS MUST SELF-DECLARE ON THEIR COVER LETTER/CV AS INDIGENOUS (FIRST NATION, MÉTIS AND/OR INUIT).
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in library and/or information studies from an ALA accredited or equivalent institution completed by date of hire;
- Knowledge and understanding of best practices, current issues, and trends in libraries;
- Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload in a timely and effective manner;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated teamwork, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
Candidates with the following additional qualifications will be preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, music and humanities or a related field;
- Experience providing reference and research services;
- Experience in the areas of teaching and instruction support;
- Experience supporting learning in fine arts, music, and humanities or similar;
- Experience in an academic library, archive, museum, or cultural heritage setting;
- Experience with collections.
