Health Sciences Librarian-Special Appointment

The Department of Library Services at Queen’s University invites applications for a Special Appointment Term at the rank of General Librarian with specialization in Health Sciences, with a preferred starting date of Summer 2024.

Qualifications 

Candidates must have an A.L.A accredited Master of Library Science or equivalent degree completed at the start date of the appointment. The successful candidate will have experience working in academic health sciences, hospital libraries or equivalent. The candidate will have experience providing reference and research services, including literature searching using electronic information resources and applications in relevant disciplines. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of knowledge synthesis methodologies, systematic/scoping review literature searching, and health sciences library resources, including their evaluation, selection, maintenance, and de-selection. While also having knowledge of collection maintenance, including electronic resource evaluation, monograph selection and de-selection. Candidates will also require a strong service philosophy and commitment to user-centered services. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Vaccination Requirements

Prior to May 1, 2022, the University required all students, faculty, staff, and visitors (including contractors) to declare their COVID-19 vaccination status and provide proof that they were fully vaccinated or had an approved accommodation to engage in in-person University activities. These requirements were suspended effective May 1, 2022, but the University may reinstate them at any point.

The City

The University is situated on the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe, in historic Kingston on the shores of Lake Ontario. Queen’s is an integral part of the Kingston community, with the campus nestled in the core of the city, only a 10-minute walk to downtown.
