Job Summary
University Libraries support and advance learning and research endeavors by providing collections, facilities and services that expedite access to the world’s information and knowledge. Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Resources and reporting to the Resources Management Librarian, the Resources Licensing Manager will work with vendors to support the acquisition, renewal, licensing, and administration of electronic resources on behalf of the Libraries and in support of the University’s goals for teaching, learning, and research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage system-wide collection purchases, process development, pricing trends and analyses, accurate fiscal forecasting and reporting, and evidence-based collection management.
  • Provide acquisition services for content and content-related tools, including product exploration, facilitating trial access, ordering, invoicing, and subscription renewal. Review and negotiate license agreements with publishers/vendors to reach favorable pricing and licensing terms.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with consortia, vendors, publishers and other suppliers. Ensure appropriate standards of service delivery are being met and resolve any related issues.
  • Coordinate with the E-Resources team on the technical aspects of e-resources’ administration, including access management and authentication.
  • Support collections budget management and planning for the entire library system and provide financial reporting for all acquisitions spending. Coordinate purchase decisions across the Libraries, consulting appropriately as needed.

Note
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in library and information technology plus approximately five to seven years progressive relevant work experience in or with libraries (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Experience with e-resources lifecycle, including acquisitions and pricing models, and ordering and invoicing processes, as well as experience negotiating with vendors and/or publishers, analysing license proposals, and managing print and electronic resources.
  • Experience using a library services platform and other electronic resources management systems, a proven capability using standard software applications and other web-based systems, and the demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Experience in an academic environment along with a commitment to professional development, and a demonstrated awareness of emerging trends in academic libraries, open access, scholarly communication, publishing, and information resources management.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills with the proven ability to collect and analyze resource information and data in support of library planning and strategic development.
