About the Role:

The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) Library is seeking a Teaching & Research Librarian at its headquarters in Ottawa. The librarian will be required to work on site a minimum of 3 days per week.

Located on the 12th floor of Place Bell in downtown Ottawa, the PPSC Library is part of the Prosecution Policy and Knowledge Integration directorate, which is responsible for developing prosecution policy, as well as managing knowledge transfers through the School for Prosecutors, the National Legal Research and Precedents SharePoint Site, and the National Library. The library is staffed by a small, dedicated team committed to supporting legal research and training within the organization. We provide services to both headquarters and regional offices across Canada.

Responsibilities:

• Responds to legal research and reference questions.
• Participates in the development of library services communications and training materials.
• Conducts information sessions with various groups in the organization. 

About the opportunity:

• Duration: 12 months
• Educational requirement: Candidates must have a master’s degree in library science or in library and information science, or equivalent. *Students who will complete their master’s degree by May 31, 2026, will also be considered.

À propos du poste :

Le Service des poursuites pénales du Canada (SPPC) est à la recherche d’un/uneBibliothécaire d’enseignement et de recherche à sa bibliothèque de l’administration centrale à Ottawa. Le ou la bibliothécaire devra travailler sur place au moins trois (3) jours par semaine.

Située au 12e étage de la Place Bell, au centre-ville d’Ottawa, la bibliothèque du SPPC fait partie de la Direction des politiques de poursuites et intégration du savoir, qui est responsable de l’élaboration des politiques de poursuite, ainsi que de la gestion du transfert des connaissances par l’entremise de l’École des poursuivants, du site SharePoint national sur la recherche juridique et les précédents, et de la bibliothèque nationale. La bibliothèque est composée d’une petite équipe dévouée qui soutient la recherche juridique et la formation au sein de l’organisation. Nous offrons des services tant à l’administration centrale qu’aux bureaux régionaux partout au Canada.

Responsabilités :

• Répondre aux questions de recherche juridique et de référence.
• Participer à l’élaboration des communications et du matériel de formation pour les services de bibliothèque.
• Effectuer des séances d’information avec divers groupes de l’organisation

• Exigence en matière d’études : Les candidats doivent posséder un grade de maîtrise en bibliothéconomie ou en bibliothéconomie et sciences de l’information, ou l’équivalent. * Les étudiants qui complèteront leur maîtrise d’ici le 31 mai 2026 seront également considérés pour ce processus.
