Building a Culture of Openness and Support for librarians in North America
At ViMLoC, we believe in open communication, collaboration, and mutual support. These community guidelines help us understand what’s appropriate for posting on our listserv and what falls outside the scope. Together, let’s foster a positive and inclusive environment!
In Scope:
1. Research on Diversity:
- Share research findings related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Seek research partners or participants for studies.
- Foster dialogue around research topics.
2. Professional Opportunities:
- Advertise opportunities, events, and programming from professional librarian associations or groups.
- Highlight conferences, workshops, and networking events.
3. Resource Sharing:
- Share resources related to visible minority and equity topics.
- Recommend books, articles, webinars, tools, and other relevant materials.
4. Professional Support Requests:
- Seek ad hoc support or advice from fellow members.
- Post a request for someone to connect with you privately by email, briefly describing the topic or issue of interest.
- Example topics include debriefing a micro-aggression incident, general mentoring, or job hunting advice.
