This month there are TWO opportunities to connect and grow our network! One event is being hosted through the Ontario Library Association and a student event is being hosted through ViMLoC.
- This week is Ontario Library Association’s (OLA) Super Conference. The association’s Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Committee is hosting a Live Chat session called Conversations and Connections – A Discussion with Culturally Diverse Library People on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 4:00-4:50pm EST. The Live Chat is open to BIPOC library people who are not attending the OLA Super Conference. Please read the description below to find out more.
Library folks that identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Colour are invited to gather for an informal discussion outside the OLA Super Conference. Join members of the Ontario Library Association’s Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Committee to chat and connect.
If you are attending conference, the link to attend the chat will be live 10 minutes before the scheduled time. For those who are not attending OLA Super Conference, you can register to attend this live chat by clicking here.
Facilitated by Mai Lu, University of Toronto, and Valentina Ly.
The Live Chat format is a live virtual meeting space. These chats will be hosted through Zoom, outside of the conference platform. All attendees have the option to have microphone and cameras enabled. There is also the option to contribute through a text based discussion board.
- We are launching the first event for our ViMLoC Student Interest Group (SIG)! The event takes place on Thursday, February 10th, 2022 at 8-9pm EST. It will be a safe space for the ViMLoC SIG to connect, chat, and grow. Please register for the event. We have more information about the ViMLoC Student Interest Group.
